The Multiverse UA has got giff, hadozee, and plasmoids. I get nothing is 100% until confirmed, but also... like come on, that combined with the cover with Boo and a beholder on it, plus THIS TEASE... it's as close as you can get to confirmed without actually confirmed.
I mean, they confirmed it, but they won't clarify for a while.

I actually think that this the only way Spelljammer should be announced. If the actual product isn't announced on April 1st, that is a mistake IMO.
Spelljammer was routinely treated as a joke, even in its own product line. Announcing Spelljammer on 4/1 and then saying "no really, we're confirming Spelljammer..." Seems to be the most Spelljammer thing they could do.
While I disagree, that is a good point.

It's not much fun being on the receiving end.

Have you looked outside lately? Global pandemic that's now endemic and an active war in Eastern Europe. Sunshine and rainbows, man. Sunshine and rainbows.

Really? They haven't confirmed it. They've teased it for years now. The Krynn UA was dripping with names and lore making it obviously a Dragonlance UA. The "multiverse" UA went out of its way to never mention anything Spelljammer lore related. They included several races that were used in Spelljammer, but also races that weren't, races that were used in Star Frontiers, and races that were new.
Every one of the races in the UA were Spelljammer specific other than the Astral Elves, which are probably just re-skinned Imperial Elves. The ones you think are Star Frontiers races aren't - they're the suspiciously similar ones that appeared in Spelljammer products. The names of those are the Spelljammer versions, not the Star Frontier versions.

Placing this here for folks who forgot it/never saw it. Variant cover for a book teased in the last D&D online event.

The Spelljammer book is coming guys, let's not lose our minds.

I mean, on what grounds? They have put out a UA with Spelljammer material, written by the guy who we know is working on a Classic Setting product, who teased that products alternate cover with a Spelljammer character. And we have a confirmed leaker who said Spelljammer is coming this year.

I don't feel there is much rational basis for doubt.

The way to make this joke hilarious would be in June if they announce that Spelljammer is coming in the fall. And then a lot of feigned "we teased it in April, why didn't anyone take us seriously?" acting around it.

That would be hilarious.
That's probably pretty close to what they're doing here. It's amusing to watch people getting annoyed/upset over what's almost certainly a cheeky stealth pre-announcement.

Mind you, for context: Chris Perkins teased this as what he is working on, after Ray Winninger already said that Chris Perkins was working on a Classic Setting. And then, Chris Perkins wrote a UA article filled with Spelljammer material.

Given all that, this joke is super funny.

Yep. Ironically, D&D and GW pulled essentially the same joke... here's this thing that you probably won't believe, on a day made explicitly for pranking you... but we actually are doing it, but we know you'll doubt it for the above reasons. MWAHAHAHA, I have filled your hearts with doubt!

I get it. But until there's a proper, no really this is a product we're launching, it's not confirmed. Signs point to...sure.

Boo and Minsc are way more closely tied to Balder's Gate and FR than Spelljammer. Boo and a Beholder doesn't mean Spelljammer confirmed. There are beholders in FR.

I hope I'm wrong. I'm a huge Spelljammer nerd. But until they put out a press release with a title, release date, and price point. It's all speculation.
