4e [Eberron] BnP Keep on the Shadowfell (Yea, though I walk through the valley of th)

[sblock=ooc]I would have posted tonight, obviously, and Brock would have tried a nonlethal attack and urged the others to do the same. In 4e only the blow that drops an enemy to 0 hp or less makes a difference in that regard, and there is no penalty for making it nonlethal. I was waiting my turn for a while what with Brock being surprised. :erm:[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc: a compromise of sorts]was aware of the ruling about non-lethal damage.

And I appreciate that you may not feel like you had enough time to post.

My thought was basically that it was a bit like a cowboy movie. You may want to talk down a guy, tie him up and interrogate him. The guy who wants to shoot him just has to pull the trigger once.
(I've seen this happen a fair bit in rl games too. Somebody isn't paying attention and pastes the last guy to the general annoyance of one or more people who wanted to take captives)

Since it's BnP there are times I just want to play through.
But not at the expense of being unfair.

Why don't you roll to hit? You hit and do 8 or more and you took him down and he's alive. You miss or do less than 8 then he's still standing an Tyron winds up blowing him away.

(To my thinking you go on a 10, he goes on a 9; its not like you don't have time to have an extensive debate about it)

"Damn it!" Brock fumes. "We need to take a kobold prisoner, guys. We need information and we're running low on chances to get it. Now we have a few more in the caves it looks like. We must knock 'em out next time!"
"I actually think the caves ARE their headquarters. What more informations do you hope to get?" Tyron asks the enraged dwarf.

Brock managed to hit the kobold but not drop him before Tyron finished him off.

"I think there's more going on here than just banditry. They were working with the fake Douven and they seem willing to die rather than surrender, which means they're not just after a few gold pieces.

What more information? I'll know it when I get it."

"You see how they run away? Cowardly creatures." Zaram cleans off his blade in the river and wipes it dry on his cloak. "It wouldn't be wise I think to go chase them down without looking around. If they have half a brain they would have two exits. Let's look around first." Zaram rummages through the corspes that fell, looking to find anything of value.

"I don't think it woudl be wise for us to split up. I think we should circle the area, and look for an alternate entrance. If we find one, hopefully we can go through that one." Zaram looks at his large frame, hoping it can fit inside the warren of the kobolds. Zaram looks around the area, trying to get a good feel of where another entrance might be.

[sblock=ooc]Graf, can you give us an idea of terrain/features around the outside of their home?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sure. The map is basically what the book has. So there are the two cave mouths (north and south).
The river is a river, it's not deep enough to impede you though (beyond the squares that are marked difficult terrain with that little triangle anyway).

The waterfall (wotc people have insisted on the boards at great length) is "very noisy". So you can't hear anything in the caves (and presumably vise versa).
(How that stacks up with the stream being a few inches deep I have no idea.... I'll just stay it's falling from a great height).

The sacred circle, where the dragonshield tried to hang out at the start of the fight, grants +1 to hit if you're standing in the 9 squares (the central square and the adjacent squares).

I've mucked around with the map to give you a better view.[/sblock]

"The one that fled went in the north entrance. We could sneak in the other way as they might be expecting us to follow. I can lead and the rest can follow under the cover of the noise from the waterfall." says Iridian.
