1st Annual Nerd Rumble

Rasputin

First Post
Instead of our regular roleplaying, this week our DM has put together his "1st Annual Nerd Rumble." We have to bring characters in which he will put us through a series of challenges. I assume this will sort of be like the Challenge of Champions that have been in various Dungeons. The rules are:

15th level characters
PHB core races only
3.5 books only for resources (skills, feats, equipment, etc)
2 Prestige class maximum
250,000 gp limit
No templates

Using these guidelines, what do you think would be a versatile choice. I'm pretty sure there will be combat involved, and some of it will probably be PC vs. PC (Probably up to a 4 PC free-for-all). I might have problems with a free-for-all, as I always seem to the person who takes the least amount of damage and has the least amount of characters die, so I figure the others will be gunning for me. I'm thinking of a cleric archer build, but was wondering if anyone else had something that might do as well or better. Thank you.

I had thought of a druid. Any prestige classes or just straight druid?
Straight!

Druid's give up way to much stuff to make multi-classing attractive. Besides... with some good feats, and good spells... you can be everything!
  • spell focus - conj.
  • augment summoning
  • natural spellcasting
  • craft wonderous
  • power attack
  • etc.
You will be wildshaping into something huge, then Animal Growth into colossal!... melee covered.

Your sommoned earth elementals will be pretty tough...

Hint:
Cast Energy Immunity (fire) t&b:88
Change into something with a good grapple... have a couple fire seeds (berries) in a bag around your neck (after meditating within Incense ;) )... Grapple your really big opponent... activate all the berries... bye bye big opponent.

If you have no idea what challanges you're going to face, assume that a good 1/2 of them won't be combat.

A wizard would be good as well, but load up on scrolls and wands for "utility" spells. Heck, you could get one scroll for every wizard spell in the book just to be sure you're covered. There's nothing like being able to use the entire spell chapter of the PH when you're looking to find a way past an obsticle.

Whatever your class, get items to raise your AC and saving throws. A Ring of Protection and Cloak of Resistance both +5 will serve anybody well. Everybody will be getting attacked and/or needing saving throws of one type or another.
