My wife rolled with it. Now our children play games with Dad along with friends of decades.
My wife has zero interest but accepts my glass cabinets full of toys…she can watch her shows which hold mom interest to me. We can watch LOTR or Dune movies together though.
You dodged a bullet, sir...
I try to stay “in the game” and terrain, drawing, mini collecting helps curb the urge to play when I cannot.
Today I found images for character representation…and have a bunch of terrain to dry brush…
I am a big Gygax fan generally.
But am so glad D&D survived to the present. Like 5e…but am most grateful it is not “the end.” It might be the end for me, but the game lives on.
But make no mistake the game lives! I have been playing about 4 decades and now my kids play (they only know...
Yeah. Good for goose, good for gander.
The game is and is always an arms race if you want challenges.
The problem with magic being too powerful is best handled I think with making it dangerous. Clearly that is not how the game has trended and may not be what a majority wants. 🤷♂️

I ultimately came clean…and my concerned parent saw I was a kind sensitive kid that did not spontaneously combust if taken to church and protected and nurtured...
As a simple test of logic…(don’t got all philosophy 101 on me…please, for Pelor’s sake)…
A lot of people seem to have fun playing D&D. And many of them play things differently.
By what standard are they wrong? For me this is a space to talk about how you do it—-what your group likes…
How...
It is brutal. I have the space…and a game table. I have lots of minis. I have most of the books. I have a room full of boardgames…
But I am so tired after work. The dogs need to be fed. Gotta take the kids to sports…home maintenance…family stuff- aged parents. Damn time to work again...
Not sure how people miss it…
It’s not selling out unless you are making something that is subpar, internationally for the sake of profit.
Foibles and all, if you can’t support a shoe salesman moving up due to entrepreneurship you are just too legit to quit.
And that is what I most...
