Another weirdly timely thread for
Me…
I am currently obsessed with playing a volo’s hobgoblin. I have done AI art modeling, used character generators…obsessed.
I love the idea of a wizard with a greataxe and armor…love the aesthetics and culture.
In fact, thinking about DMing the goblin...
I am trying to figure this out…
Without a predetermined plot, a story is emergent…after play. This is especially true if you consider D&D to be a wargame with additions.
That said, in our current campaign we have had cut points before a new series of challenges emerge. These might be...
No worries! And I don’t hate5e art. I don’t like the later stuff (mostly 2024).
I will never stop liking Easley or erol otus weirdness!
I did not prefer 2e…found I liked some of 3e…especially Lockwood dwarf in the PHB!
But while I wax nostalgic I am really thinking about playing a hobgoblin...
I think I have longer than my wife. I am in healthcare…but in time we are all hosed. I think I will have the decade I need to retire…after that all bets are off.
I think they will have fewer doctors spread over even larger areas with AI taking the diagnostic work and more nurses for hands...
My wife and I hold several degrees each. My job is pretty safe for a while. I worry about hers more but really my kids the most.
I say to my wife “plumbers shall inherit the earth.” We will need to build places to house the computers…and infrastructure to live.
When we pass heavy equipment...
I am genuinely concerned for my kids and as one enters college and the world
Of work I don’t know how to direct anymore.
Keep asking them if they would be interested in the trades…turning a wrench, pipe fitting etc.
Some
Of us geeks about to get geeked.
One reason I like this thread is that you can see that D&D lives on…it changes some but the essence lives.
I also like that there are things to be brace in a lot of places.
My group has played and enjoyed so much over the years from three editions at least. We played AD&D from high school...
I know yours is a genuine question an inquiry so will try to answer. First things first: I think 5e (gulp) might be superior to 1e in some respects.
Secondly, if you see it “a lot” there is probably something there. And I think you are asking honestly so I will try to articulate.
Enter all...
This a fun topic! I have these discussions with myself…
As it turns out I really enjoy 5e but also miss AD&D! At the outset let me say I love 5e (2014) so my criticisms are preferences only, not deal breakers.
Dislikes:
1. The tone. The art is good but the move toward happy shiny people...
I don’t think wizards are all that…at all…tier one and tier two.
And I have never wanted to play one more…
Maybe I don’t have the secret playbook of exactly what combos of spells to use to destroy the game.
Just curious how many enworlders are heading to Gary Con.
I am for the first time. I previously loved gencon…back to Milwaukee days even and high school! But it’s a little crowded for me now. May go again may not…
But my pals say Gary Con will hit the spot. Looking forward to both AD&D...
