The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is LIVE! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
Personally, I find it engaging. My current game of Starfinder showcases a lot of the weirder things it's half-way to 2E design has. There has been quite a few "why didn't they do it like PF2E did", only to remember it was made a few years earlier.
Also the product is much more digestible in...
As the author of those blog posts thanks. Mind you the Rogue technically can fill all 4 roles. No one class should be limited to one. Specialize sure. Each class needs unique ways to approach Make, Take, Talk, and Fight.
I guess it all depends on how themes are built.
If they are a package of new powers/abilities AND feats combined into a whole that enhances a class. Great!
If they are just a series of feats. Meh.
A serious consideration needs to be taken on spells like Knock when they can be applied to say a wand.
Any spell or effect that replaces the need for a skill check might need to be nerfed. Perhaps Knock is just a +10 bonus to the next attempot to unlock the door? Etc?

Something hit me:
Themes for monsters! In this case instead of something overly gamy as Solo or Elite you instead gain themes like Gang Leader, Expert, Warlord, Sorcerer, etc that work like templetes but don't just add generic bonuses to stat/skill. I'd LOVE to see monsters get fully fleshed...
The issue is you want to represent growing power without completely invalidating weaker foes, especially using teamwork against you. I would have caused it the Bigger Fish Dilemma, but there is more than two issues and options at play here.
Flattening the math can help, but you also have to...
