When and where did you learn about Greek/roman and others mythology?

K-12 schools. Some literature mention, reading and study. Some from science class for sources of names of planets, stars and constellations. At least one Star Trek Original series episode.

    Madden teaser trailer

Plus he came up with a 6 legged turkey for the Thanksgiving broadcasts. I think he really liked drumsticks.

D&D General Experts type PCs, Magic Items, and Higher Fantasy

Not sure about D&D 5 but in earlier versions and PF, Bards can be bards without items. Performance Dancing, Singing, Oratory, + maybe others. Trying to make a bard into a front line fighting type is probably an exercise in frustration. They really aren't meant to do that role. Supporting the...

    Love spells!

As a retired IT person, filtering is one of those thankless tasks that gets the most attention when there is an oops. Delicate balance between too much and not enough. Made worse these days by folks getting better at using variants of AI to try zillions of ways to bypass protections. Thanks...

    Kickstarter Bloatware

I have taken some oddball KS stuff to gaming sessions and offered to the other players and sometimes related kids. You don't have to keep it all. I have watched KS where someone asked for a special "Includes this stuff" tier and it happened. Sometimes it becomes obvious that the initial...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Point Buy Balanced?

Depends on how 'balance' is defined. Is one set of point buy(PB) stats perfectly balanced against a different set of PB stats? Probably not. But did the player using PB have a balanced opportunity to create a character as compared to the other players at the table? In my opinion, yes...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Books - Tie between Hackmaster PHB + GM guide (bought as add on to the KotDT Codex of Many Tales KS)(The Codex proper. KotDT qualifies as TTRPG related in my book) and The Fantasy Trip Path of Mastery adventure also via KS. Money for all went out months ago. Books arrived about the same time...

James Ohlen Shifts From Archetype Entertainment Head to Creative Consultant for Tabletop RPGs at Wizards

Nothing so far seems to prevent both from happening. Seems like a lot of the recent WOTC personnel moves have been about making sure all of the various bits are playing together as one big happy family.

    Painting minis?

Look at it this way. It is a wash. If your eyes prevent mini perfection, they won't notice anyway. That imperfect mini will look great! Especially at table distance. So paint away.

James Ohlen Shifts From Archetype Entertainment Head to Creative Consultant for Tabletop RPGs at Wizards

Wild speculation but maybe one of his jobs will be figuring out how to handle BG4.

Diamond Distributors Asks Bankruptcy Court For Ownership of Publishers' Consignment Inventory [UPDATED]

Another thanks for the update. @Piperken , that 'ag' description pretty well defines my situation. Not a FLGS owner but as a customer, all the local stores in the past 45 years have seemed almost passion projects. One only, small, and the long term survivors also deal in comics.

    Painting minis?

In addition to paints, minis and brushes, get an X-acto knife set and a few of those diamond coated mini files. Most minis can benefit from some cleanup out of the package. Mold lines and such. One of those 'Third Hand' set of adjustable clamps can really help. 2nd the warning about...

    The "math" of RPGs

Balance is tricky. At some point, the GM assumes the players will play their characters a certain way. When the players(it only takes one) do something unexpected, an encounter can suddenly get very easy or very deadly for the PCs. If the GM designs an encounter to be deadly slowly with...
