Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

And yet exhaustion is a better and easier mechanical representation of wearing a character down that can't be totally erased (like stress can) with a single long rest...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Look im not going to debate personal preference with you... if you think scars and some homebrew transformations are sufficient for you to have a good grimdark game... knock yourself out. IMO neither do grimdark well, which was my point. You seem more focused on proving DH is better than D&D...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Honestly... I think the long rest variant, exhaustion rules, disease/contagion/curses rules, madness/fear & mental stress rules, and so on are just as good if not better than scars... and this is before we get to 3pp sources. The argument that DH somehow supports a grimdark game better than...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

This one mechanic, which only gets invoked if you avoid death (with getting to the point where this is necessary being a pretty rare occurrence in my DH play so far)... does not make Daggerheart and it's high heroics, super-powered heroes feel grimdark. I mean it's literally a possible...

Disagree... DH misses the mark on grimdark just as much if not more than D&D.

Eh, I don't think the mechanics allow for true grimdark to be played with Daggerheart. IMO, without serious modification/homebrewing...it is very much heroic fantasy with a coat of paint/flavoring over it.

Is My Campaign Going Too Fast?

With DH, my main concern would be are the players getting the time to explore their characters fully (both mechanically and narratively) and is a satisfying narrative taking place... if so you should be good. I'm running a DH campaign right now and we've been at level 1 for the past 6...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

For the record I have a 6 player group as well... I've noticed this and it helps but there are alot of abilities that don't need 3 hope and I also feel like I'm struggling to meaningfully set conflict for every player in the group... It feels like either I'm ganging up on some and others aren't...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

D'ope. Thank you I'm not sure how I missed that... that is exactly what I was looking for. This is one of the reasons I love general discussions like this. I'm new to DH and I'm really trying to get it right. One of the things I wonder though is whether this is affected by the number of...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

I'm torn on this one as while I like the applications of hope and fear I'm not sure I'm much of a fan of how hope and fear is acquired/generated...mainly through random process with a slight favoring towards PC's gaining hope. For a narrative game it can sometimes create wildly non-narrative...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

OK maybe tactical wasn't the right word but there's something about DH combat that feels more loosey goosey... even when we use measurements or a grid while 5e feels more concrete... not sure im explainng it well. One thing my group bounced off hard on was not having initiative. I had to...

I wasn't saying it was right or wrong... I was moreso questioning why people would expect a totally different paradigm for an AP given what we've gotten so far.

Im curious...Do you think DH does tactical combat as well as 5e? For our group at least it doesn't feel like its scratching that particular itch as well as 5e...though for cinematic-esque combat i think DH works better.

I honestly think CR vastly underestimated the demand for DH (understandably) due to CO kind of flopping. Thats why I'd love to see some actual numbers. The statements about it selling faster than expected are great but I really want to know what their initial print run was.

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

I think DH is slightly more complex at low level vs. 5e... about equal or a little less at mid and much simpler at high levels compared to 5e One thing I think that DH has is very few if any assign and forget abilities...which means the players have to keep in mind what they can do in order to...
