After Winter’s Dark Kickstarter & setting discussion

They publish an amazing amount of stuff for such a small company. I am enjoying their work.

After Winter’s Dark Kickstarter & setting discussion

I am reading this now and I think it is some of the best world-building I've seen in a very long time.

What makes an TTRPG a "Narrative Game" (Daggerheart Discussion)

For what it's worth, I think the narrative-mechanical see-saw hinges on how players play their characters, and what the rule set allows them to do. If I want to be a pirate, for example, a more mechanical-orientated game might give me a subclass with certain pirate abilities, reactions, bonus...

    Path of the Planebreaker: ?

Hello, friends. I recently purchased Path of the Planebreaker from Monte Cook Games, and I am wondering if anyone has experience using it. I am not going to run it with 5e, so there will be some modifications necessary (the first of which is, what system will I run it with? Dungeon Crawl...

D&D General OAR 7: Dark Tower

Besides Dark Tower, which OAR is DCC as well as 5e?

D&D General OAR 7: Dark Tower

I have the OAR Keep on the Borderlands, which is a very nice book. I wish they had done a DCC conversion, but I understand why they made it 5e. 5e is where the money is.

D&D General OAR 7: Dark Tower

I bought it--the books for DCC--because I am weak and I am daring my wife to divorce me.

    Podcast #291: Newstraviganza

Listening to the pod. Dragonbane is based on Chaosium's BRP system. The original designer was an intern at Chaosium, and took their game system back to Sweden with him in the early 80s. We've just done a trial-campaign (like 9 sessions) and everyone really liked it! @tabletopjess You will like it!

D&D (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

I cannot work up any enthusiasm for WotC D&D. I wish I could. Not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but...I just can't.

Planning vs. Riffing: On Being Over Prepared

Thanks, everyone. I really have been doing this a long, long time...but there is always room for improvement, and it's fun to try new things. I have been setting up little situations (as @Whizbang Dustyboots helpfully reminded me) instead of big long plots. I'll let you all know how it goes!

My friend, you need to try DCC....:p

Planning vs. Riffing: On Being Over Prepared

Yeah, DCC is a different bird for sure. I've run it a few times, but this will be my first long campaign. I'm trying to let the game's mechanics and vibe guide my creation. Key word: WEIRD @SlyFlourish is the man. I use his concepts and stuff all of the time!
