The most important things on a character sheets are the marks the player makes. In this case the background competes too much with anything you could write here.
My group was pretty lukewarm to this when they announced it, but the more we have been digging into the lore, the better and better it sounds.

They likely need that time to line up the printing/distribution.
If they were to release the pdf now (assuming it's 100% ready for prime time which is unlikely) the printed version would come out behind 5 months of existing feedback, and basically be out of date the minute it hit shelves.
I think they buried the lede on this one. As much as people like Minsc and Boo, monster and magic item cards are money printing machines.
