Sing to me, O Muse, of BECMI!

And then there is the Hollow World where things get even crazier! That one, since it occurred at the end of the D&D BECMI line, didn't get the same development, but it left like 2 thirds of the HW open for DM development. I read that book all the time (I replaced my old boxed set with the POD...

I love Mystara. Some of my favorite products of all time lie in the Gazetteer series, especially the ones with rule expansions and options. I also dearly love the Isle of Dread adventure and I plan on reskinning that one for a future game in my own setting.

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

That definitely makes sense with that setup

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

Yeah, I've done the same thing, more often than not. I only don't do it when there are more absences than presences. Depends on how I want to handle inactives, usually.

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

An excellent and thoughtful list. Kudos for the ASL mention! My youngest stepson is autistic and uses a limited amount of ASL to communicate his needs. I've also tended to hold on to character sheets. It's handy to have them on hand when planning the next game, in case you forget what...

Completely off topic side note: it's fire off guns in the air night tonight in Detroit for the next hour or two. Happy New Year to me? My dogs haaaate it.

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

That is such a good one in the environment that exists today. Like, a REALLY good one. We even have that particular rule at family functions now on holidays.

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

I gotcha. I've just found it best practice to let the group know up front how this particular campaign may differ from their past experiences. It works especially well with groups assembled from local game shops that want in on a game and aren't familiar with how a particular DM may run. I...

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

Excellent list I like it! There are a lot of similarities, for the most part, across the posts here, as well as some that address issues that in 30 years of DMing I've never needed to address. It's so wild that within a hobby where so many things are so similar that experiences can differ so...

Suspicion? That's strong. Mine come from DMing for 30+ years and are simply meant to outline for players how a campaign with me as DM works.

What table rules do you have? The Social Contract

All good ones! I've really enjoyed seeing what stuff people are doing at theur respective tables throughout these posts.

I am a forever GM also, or I was until I moved a few years ago. I actually prefer it. I have the exact same kind of campaign idea backlog you refer to. If you GM that much it just kinda happens.

D&D 3E/3.5 3rd Edition Revisited - Better play with the power of hindsight?

Oh, I know. Seems like a lot of players forget that.

Lol that poster sounds like a lot of fun, actually. I'll use my name here but all I could think of is (and this happened) "No experiments with wands of fireball BECAUSE ANDREW DID"
