D&D General Are you aware that the New Edition (5.5 whatever) is a part of the 50th Anniversary of D&D?

I can't help but think at his advanced age Warduke does in fact need glasses.

Looking for a Cyberpunk Genre Game

I'm probably going with Interface Zero. I'm about to run a Call of Cthulhu/East Texas University game, cyberpunk is on hiatus for a bit.

Looking for a Cyberpunk Genre Game

We had a lot of beef with Red. Where to start? Let's start with the character Roles. The Roles include Solo, Lawman, Corporate, Nomad, Netrunner, Tech, Med-Tech, and Rocker Boy and each one has a special skill accessible only to them. For example, the Solo gets Combat Awareness which...

I haven't seen it since 1984 or 1985. Oh, my. It's been forty years. The thing is, I think one can certainly look at role playing games and analyze them the same we do with literature or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That kind of thing should interest me but for some reason I feel like I'm...

DUNE Movie: Thoughts, Opinions, and Impressions

I imagine there are merchants, teachers, etc., etc. on Giedi Prime but the movie isn't focused on pedagogy in in the year 10,191. Same reason why we don't get a glipse of regular Federation life outside of Starfleet in the first Star Trek series. By the last Dune book, the last one by Herbert...

What is the most evocative art you've seen in a TTRPG?

Nobody ever says the cover art from Savant & Sorcerer for Exalted. This is actually not so easy a question but I'm going to take a stab at it. I'm going to eleminate any RPG based on a work of fiction including Star Trek, Star Wars, Alien, etc., etc. The 1st edition cover of the AD&D Player's...

D&D General Why Do People Hate Gnomes?

    Gnomes do rock.

I had to analyze a science-fiction book for my Gender & Science Fiction undergraduate course and I chose the first Gor novel. As I recall, the first novel really didn't go off the rails all that much.

I didn't watch the series when it originally ran because I was busy doing something else when it aired. But, man, I got so tired of being around people who didn't want to talk about anything but Firefly. I got around to watching the entire series when it came out on DVD, and while I enjoyed...

D&D General Why Do People Hate Gnomes?

While I don't hate gnomes, that's pretty much how I feel about them. But then I feel like that about some of the other D&D species as well including the goliath. In my experience, the goliath pretty much fills a similar niche to the half-orc but I haven't found a lot of people who hate them.

D&D General Which medieval monsters are different then their dnd equivalent?

One of the difficulties we encounter is that very often mythological creatures weren't really categorized as we do animals in the modern age. Let's take the kobold, the creature from German folklore, might be what other areas called a goblin or hobgoblin (at least according to Wikipedia). In...

D&D General Why Do People Hate Gnomes?

I'm guessing so many people hate gnomes because of the final episode of The World of David the Gnome. In "The Mountains Beyond," David and his wife Lisa ascend the mountain so they can die in peace away from their loved ones. No doubt this traumatic episode left many individuals scarred for...

Running adventures in systems that they were not designed for.

I've run the original Castle Ravenloft I-6 adventure using the classic Deadlands system. In that version, Count Strahd von Zarovich was an eastern European who was so enamored with western dime novels that he has his castle moved brick-by-brick from Transylvania to Colorado. Instead of the...

Times we have made mistake as DMs and how we would do things differently

Don't introduce the Deck of Many Things to your D&D campaign unless you no longer care about that campaign.

Times we have made mistake as DMs and how we would do things differently

I am the God-Emperor GM and by definition cannot make mistakes. But, you know, if I did ever make mistakes here's what they might be. On several occasions I should have been more clear with the players about the likely consequences of their character's actions. Star Wars: I was running...

    Most Rewatchable MCU Movies

It's 10 rings I think. Legend of the Five Rings is something else entirely. I can't believe Winter Soldier isn't on your list. While I enjoyed Shang Chi, the end fight was a CGI fest that I found difficult to follow and boring. I had the same problem with the first Wonder Woman movie...

D&D (2024) Check Out D&D's New Gold Dragon Redesign

For a game called Dungeons & Dragons there have been a dearth of dragons in my campaigns. I think the new gold dragon looks pretty cool.

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

I honestly don't understand why people feel so strongly about this one way or the other. While I admit I'm somewhat enthusiastic about Greyhawk being used in the new DMG, I wouldn't have been particularly upset had they used something else from the past or something entirely new. It's the DMG...
