Orcs are territorial and warlike, but a small number of them instead opt to live and work with other races instead of fighting them. They just don't need an infusion of human juice to do that.
That bit of lore has no need to be connected to beings of multiple heritages.

This kind of reminds me of my old 2e Dragonlance days where I felt like certain races or even classes didn’t fit cause they weren’t in the novels. And as a DM back then, didn’t like the idea of a player wanting to try something that didn’t fit what I thought was canon. Now since we rarely play as much as we used to, worrying about that doesn’t come up cause all I want to do is game with friends and have fun for a couple hours when we get together.

Now, a war forged in Dragonlance or any other setting than Eberron, hmm, gotta think on how I’d do it but probably go with a spark of magic brought it (suit of armor, etc) to life. Again if it means a friend or myself having fun and hanging out, we go with it and have fun but every table and person can look it differently.
The warforged were experiments by tinker gnomes that disappointingly functioned perfectly well. They were abandoned as failed projects since they couldn't be improved on and unceremoniously dumped on a scrapheap outside of Mt Nevermind. The abandoned warforged used the scrapheap to create more of their kind. And, voilà! We have canon-appropriate warforged in Dragonlance.

Based on the writings that exist solely in my mind, I've decided I'm going to skip 6th edition, play 7th, and will wait to see what public opinion is on 8th edition.
Hey, I won't need to buy the new stuff to hear everything about it online. I'll know if I'm right or wrong less than a week after release if I'm at all paying attention.

Works for me, but then I love robots.

Might have to change that name though, as they weren't exactly forged for war. The biggest issue with warforged breaking out of Eberron is simply the name, which is far from generalized.

There is a difference between expressing an opinion and expressing disdain for people who don’t share it.
I said I was tired of a prevailing opinion. That says nothing about the character of the people who share that opinion, nearly all of whom I of course have never met.

You tell me. What is an acceptable to you way to express my dislike of quirky and unique as the top priority for character creation? How can I say that without you labeling me as a bad actor?

Chaosmancer

Legend
But Chaosmancer, idealism and hope are for losers! Everyone knows you can only be a dumb-dumb baby idiot unless you embrace the mature, serious, adult characteristics, like being cynical, jaded, selfish, petty, violent, cruel, and manipulative.

Right, excuse me while I throw up.

Precisely why I have the fears I stated. Greyhawk is "safe" in WotC's eyes. Name and image recognition will guarantee the old hands are on board, so they can change whatever they like to get the new blood on board as well. I fear such thinking will blow up in their faces.

Eh, I don't think it can blow up.

The chapter we are talking about isn't a Gazeteer, it is using an example setting to show how to build a setting and a campaign. They are going to focus on a small area, maybe five or six major powers, and that's probably going to be a bout it. The writing style will probably be very hypothetical "If you want this, you can do this, if your player asks for that, here is one way you can do it."

The only people who are going to get mad are the people who would get mad about anything less than Gary Gygax returning from the grave and ghost writing their personal table's canon of the setting for an official release. And to those people... well, it is just a chapter full of examples.
