How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

The key is that mutations have been largely independent of the leveling mechanics, at least from a developmental balancing perspective. Sure, you get an extra d6 disintegration damage per level, but it started out at 20d6.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

For sure. I just wouldn't want to see the gonzo compromised because some chud thought it was "imbalanced." That is kind of one of the pillars of GW

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Good question! The most real world land monsters I can think of are tigers (800 pounds of teeth, claws and fury), bull elephants (10000 pounds of just fury) and hippos (split the difference). So if you put a bullette in that same category, I am okay with maybe reintroducing DR for the monsters...

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

Your suggestion of GW appropriate subclasses suggested balancing against 5E subclasses to me. If that's not what you meant, mea culpa.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

We're talking about GW though, not some pale but awesome imitation. For the record, Mutant Future is the best GW clone/re-imagining.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

I think balancing on 5E is bad for GW.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

There was a lot wrong with the way Williams TSR did business, but letting creatives run wild was not among those issues.

D&D General Which Edition Had The Best Dragons?

Not true. Dragonlance followed the 1E MM styles, which were codified and distinct between dragon types.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

I'm not sure it would do WotC any good, but it would be kind of cool if they let their design team run wild on something. I vote for a new version of Alternity (not the craptacular version recently produced). Give me back Star*Drive and Dark*Matter.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Armor is a response to potential threat. Just because shark divers wear chainmail doesn't mean it is in common use today. If that guy was fighting in a war where the enemy had pointy sticks instead of guns, it only speaks to that war, not 1800s tech.

PaizoCon 2024 Announcements and Product Reveals

The cover art looks like one of the wasteland settings, but there's no cyborgs so probably not Iron Gods.

I wonder what "historic setting" means in context of PFQ.

I feel like it would be easy for them to adapt the playbook-ish advancement they used with PACG.

D&D Movie/TV Paramount+ Will Not Proceed with Dungeons & Dragons Live-Action TV Show

I was referring specifically to your assessment of The Boys' writing. It has some of the best written complex characters in current genre fiction, miles better than its source material. I have not seen any of the other shows you mentioned except RoP, which I like even if it is not Tolkien.

Well, if Amazon just bought WotC then they could do what they wanted! And, frankly, after The Boys and Fallout, I would let Amazon make anything.

And yet each Star Wars sequel made over a billion dollars. ::sigh:: We get what we deserve, I suppose.

How compatible should Gamma World be with Dungeons and Dragons?

I don't think there is anything wrong with designing a new GW to be comptible enough with D&D that you can use monsters and gear between the two, but I think it would be a mistake be be o slavishly tied to D&D that GW loses its gonzo flavor. That is to say, compatibility is fine but no effort...

It's too bad, because it is really good. It isn't Fury Road good, but almost nothing is.
