D&D 5E Help Me Name This New Cantrip

Seems like this should scale. You recover one spell slot of 1th level or lower. You then gain 1 level of exhaustion for each level of that spell slot. If this would cause you to have 6 or more levels of exhaustion, the cantrip fails. At level 5, the maximum level becomes 2 At level 11, the...

    D&D General lightning-themed environment?

Gnome air-ship(s) caught in the eye of a perpetual storm. Curious about the black clouds they sailed into it and got stuck as all the wind blows them to the center. The party is on a rescue mission. Possibly after several more balloons where sent. Anyone who falls off you get blown to a...

D&D 5E Advanced D&D or "what to minimally fix in 5E?"

To be fair, 5.24 has done a lot of what he is asking. More customization with a first level feat and flexible ability scores. Halfing barbarian with a great axe is now a thing. More reason to go to higher levels for martials. Weapon choices actually matter. (Though Armor still doesn't)...

Humanoids who can read and write. It was not a common thing.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Which has a muzzle velocity of 600 ft/s and ~300' range. Which is comparable to a large crossbow. Compared to the M1 Garand, WW2's favorite rifle, which is 2800 ft/s and ~1500' range. So yea. A compressed air Tommy gun would be in the right ballpark. Automatic fire that is blockable by a...

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

The OP mentioned Tommy guns. That was 1918, and automatic. And even durring Napoleon in the early 1800's, he supposedly said "God is on the side with the best artillery". Though in the 1600's and 1700's sure. The long reload time and low accuracy of flint locks would still allow for melee...

Soldier (wizard): has no supernatural abilities and is much more vulnerable than his coworkers, but maintains the full support of his majesty arsenal. The latest in automatic fire weapons, radio communications, grenades, vehicles, and even calling in artillery support (once they have proven...

Vampire: The Masquerade - Wikipedia Another one with guns and melee, with the idea that vampires can survive some shooting. Also, Hello. Don't think there's a TTRPG for it, but similar settings of supernatural creatures in post war London.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Also, historically speaking, once guns where common, melee weapons where not. You can't get into sword fights durring WW2. Your taking cover from snipers, flanking from 100', and calling in artillery from off the battle map. That's why setting are mostly medieval or jump to science fantasy...

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Firearms are already an optional rule. Firearms - DND 5th Edition but if you want to remove AC and revamp classes, then there might be a different system. Call of Chthulu is the only one in that time period I can think of at the moment.

D&D 5E Which classes have the least identity?

Ranger can go into Barbarian. Both are weapon + nature theme. Have a Hunters Rage option that works with bows but limited to 1 target, and add a Beastmaster subclass. And I fighter can be a Oath of War. Lay on Hands is already a bonus action, so just add Channel Divinity: Action Surge...

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Video game logic such that water is only useful for drinking? Sounds like something a decepticon would say.

Fill up a pit trap and swim out. Pour water on the floor and see where it flows, detecting floor traps and under secret doors. Wash dirt off. Use it as a hydrolic press. Grow crops durring a drought.

    D&D 5E Grappled

So the real question is why don't bears have restrained. I guess the devs just don't think that bears regular hold things down when they eat, but you are welcome to add that to them.

To be fair. I would expect one of those 31 flavors to be Vanilla. Maybe 2 with a French Vanilla.

    D&D 5E Grappled

Like I said, some monsters do. Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: (1d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage. The target is grappled (escape dc 14) Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the snake can't constrict another target.

1: some monsters do. But go ahead and squeeze a lemon with a hammer, and then hit a lemon with a hammer. One will do more damage. 2: they upgraded it a bit in the playtest. "Disadvantage on attack rolls against any target other than the grappler." 3: hold a lemon with hammer and try to hit it...

That's because I mistakenly didn't have the sorcerer listed for the first few hours of the poll. So people had to re-vote. Sorcerer is now in the lead by a healthy margin.
