The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is coming! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
Honestly, this is just meh for me. It looks like a bunch of evil dudes at a family reunion posing for a pic. But really they just want to get back to the beer and bratwurst, so dammit gramma figure out how to use your phone and take the picture already.
I agree there is not nearly as much communication with Edge as there was with FFG, but they are still active. They just released a brand new Genesys Twilight Imperium title this month, in fact: War for the Throne.
I wonder if there will be detailed ship combat rules. If my poor memory serves, ENWorld Publishing did a sci-fi segment of W.O.I.N. that was reminiscent of the amazing FASA Starship Combat Simulator.
In my opinion, this is perfect. Too often companies try to milk something for all its worth and end up leaving on a sour note (can anyone say Arkham series?). BG3 is an amazing game and an incredible technical accomplishment. I applaud Larian for ending on a high note and letting the game live...
When someone passes it is an opportunity to celebrate their life, perhaps in the way that you might hope your life gets celebrated when your time comes. Life is difficult, and we make many turns and choices as we navigate it, some for better and some for worse. There is no point in dwelling on...
Working for Jim when he was the Director of Creative Services at TSR was my first job when I got out of the Navy and was very young, about a thousand years ago. I was never more than a bit player in the gaming industry and didn't stay in it for very long, but Jim always made me feel welcome and...
I was reading the D&D Beyond article "The 10 Best Spells for the 2014 Paladin" this morning. As a player who has long favored paladins, I dove into the article with gusto.
And now it has left me wondering if paladins are really that great of a choice from a purely game mechanics perspective if...
Very much this. Over a 7-year-long 4e campaign I never cared specifically what a character could do like I have to with 5e. At any given level, a PC's powers were horizontally broad, which makes for a fun time running a character, but rarely vertically broad, which would make for OP PCs.
That...
I ran a seven-year-long 4th edition campaign. I have been playing D&D continuously since 1st edition. I currently DM and play 5th edition.
At no time during my seven-year tenure as a 4e DM did I ever feel like 4e was not D&D. I don't believe my players ever felt that way either. I thought it...
I was actually really surprised to see that they had put a single release date for the entire set of three core rulebooks. In an interview one of the WotC principles said that the entire print run of all three rulebooks was too large to be done at once. And in the past when new editions were...
Agreed that there is still a lot to be desired for Maps. It is still in the alpha phase (despite the fact that I think they are using the phrase alpha test incorrectly) so it has a lot of growing to do. I am really excited for the direction it seems to be going in. Time will tell how the app...
Dungeons of Drakkenheim looks really interesting, especially given that it's set up for D&D Beyond Maps. I've been really enjoying Maps as a lightweight VTT.
It looks tempting but I feel it's way overpriced. I buy coffee fresh from a local roastery that fresh roasts ethically sourced beans multiple times a week, and it costs significantly less than that D&D-brand coffee.
If anyone tries it, I'd be interested in hear how good it is.
Back when I was still having a love affair with 4e (yes, yes, everyone throw tomatoes at me now and get it over with) I had a pipe dream that they would crowdfund the core rulebooks with the rather massive amount of errata they had accrued. Clearly they wouldn't have put resources into a version...
