WotC WotC can, and probably should support multiple editions of D&D.

I don't think they can or should, there was a time when there were 2 different "editions" supported by TSR, and it was AD&D 2nd edition that came out on top as other edition faded away.

There already is an "advanced Beholder" but it's called the Hive Mother and it's usually had some differences to make it distinct from the standard Beholder.

The anti-magic ray is a 90 degrees cone or 45 degrees in all directions from the direct center line from the eye, she's outside of the angle.

That Beholder looks Huge, as in Beholders have maybe 7 or 8 feet in diameter and therefore large. But this one looks like its diameter is more than twice Minsc's height whose someone that's at least 6 feet tall.

D&D (2024) Which section of the 2024 PHB will you check out first?

Classes, because I feel those have the most impact on the game.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

If the setting is full on Steampunk, then there would be firearms that do things like Lightning or Fire damage. Definitely Lightning, Fire, Cold, Acid, Thunder and Poison being the more commons ones, with maybe some less common and more esoteric firearms that do Psychic, Necrotic, Radiant and...

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

But Dune has these details where force shields can deflect bullets and fast moving attacks, which is why slow thrusts are important, and lasguns hitting shields cause a nuclear explosion for both the one with a shield and the one with a lasgun. A "You both die" which sounds like something a...

Theoretical for someone that wants to have things like bullet resistance, also I guess you could have something like "vulnerable to ballistic damage from silver bullets"

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

One of my thoughts on Damage Resistance and firearms if one is going that route is to introduce the Damage Sub-Type "Ballistic" which is a sub-type of "Piercing". Some things might be resistant or vulnerable to Ballistic damage but not Piercing, but anything that's resistant or vulnerable to...

All the Different Types of Goblinoids

What about Tasloi? I'm never too sure about their status whether they're a Goblin-like species, or small-sized cat-people.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

So I thought there were conflicts between Russia and Georgia in the 1800s but looks like that's a more recent thing in the 1900s and 2008. In the 1800s Georgia was a willing participant of the Russian Empire under the Tsars, and it's conflicts in the 1800s were mainly against the...

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

I don't think Georgians from the 1800s fought many who were armed with pointy sticks. But anyways, the existence of things like Ghouls and Zombies and whatever else might prevent some armors going obsolete, even with inventions like percussion caps and rifling on barrels.

D&D 5E Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Would Like To Explore Kara-Tur

There's old Chinese paintings that show soldiers using in an army using Bows, Crossbows and Muskets. It's might be very D&D now with Muskets being in the PHB, with armies being armed liked that.

D&D Movie/TV ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Live-Action Series Not Going Forward At Paramount+, Will Be Revamped & Shopped By Hasbro

I don't think Paramount Plus will survive, and I should be cancelling my subscription soon now that Star Trek: Discovery is over, and renewing it whenever Star Trek: Lower Decks comes back before cancelling again. The one streaming service I won't cancel is Netflix because it's the most...

I'd put the upper limit of technology in the late 1800s before gunpowder was replaced with modern propellant, as a loose guideline.

D&D General The Problem With Paladin's Medieval Origins (+)

In more recent usage "Knight Templar" does have some negative connotations based on how often Templars are brought up in conspiracy theories. Sometimes as part of the Illuminati or as some rival of the Illuminati. And there was a cartel in Michoacan State called the Knight Templars, but they...

I know there was maybe only a few casualties from this, but apparently the last successful bayonet charge in history was more recently in Fallujah by British forces who were low on ammo.

D&D 5E Thoughts on Divorcing D&D From [EDIT: Medievalishness], Mechanically Speaking.

Some thoughts about mechanics is that for AC, there could be a system of: Some class-based number like (8, 10 or 12) + Proficiency bonus for AC. Armor could be changed to Temp HP, either a flat number like 5 or 20, or a multiplier to proficiency bonus like 3*Prof bonus. With some armors also...

D&D (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

The "let's rank the best of this and that" thing might be a generational thing that younger generations tend to do, or might be something for neurodivergent people. I've generally felt it's an unhealthy approach for dealing with the game, which is often good just to ignore the "these are S Tier...
