Are TTRPGs Even a "Good" Hobby?

I think we probably have to recognize that everyone is affected by things in different ways. Particularly when it comes to what causes or doesn’t cause us stress. I’ve been doing a lot of resilience and team building work with my management team. There are some insights in there as to what kind...

D&D (2024) What is your favorite standard 2024 cover?

I like that the PHB focuses on the players DMG focuses on the villains and locations MM focuses on the monsters Tasty.

WFRP 4e - Year of Splendors Burning - Waterdeep-Heist-Mad-Mage-Golden-Vault-Crimson-Throne-Shattered-Obelisk Mashup

A little flavour from the Fourth Estate to get things rolling. Inspired by Maxtheman36

WFRP 4e - Year of Splendors Burning - Waterdeep-Heist-Mad-Mage-Golden-Vault-Crimson-Throne-Shattered-Obelisk Mashup

With the end of my long running Age of Worms campaign this weekend. I’m soon going to run the opening session for my Waterdeep Mashup of Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, Keys from the Golden Vault, Curse of the Crimson Throne and Phandelver and Below… phew 😅 It sounds like a lot but there...

D&D 5E New Monster Manual Cover

What colours were you expecting Venger to be. How were you expecting his horn to look? Would you prefer this pose? 😳 He always was a drama queen.

How Many Spells Does a Wizard Need?

I go back to the Wizards of the Unseen University. In particular Rincewind, whose great skill is in languages. What about a wizard that loses the ability to cast spells? Either because of curse, disability, or environment? Are they still a wizard? I guess my point is that D&D has created a...

🏳️‍🌈Pride Month- Celebrating Representation in TTRPGs (2024)

Ha ha, I’m not no. But that is the best name for a gay pirate game I’ve ever seen 😂 We’re playing Skull and Shackles with WFRP 4e rules. We have an innocent ships surgeon, a priest of the sea god, a bloodthirsty witch, a dwarven thug, and a seductive bounty hunter.

🏳️‍🌈Pride Month- Celebrating Representation in TTRPGs (2024)

So I kid you not. I’m running a long time pirate campaign for gay players. Including me. It’s exactly how you would expect it to be… It makes One Piece look somber. Though surprisingly our gay pirates are far more bloodthirsty! One player actually hid a serated knife inside a bread roll to get...

A few things I really like about WFRP

Yeah the Ubersreik Adventures series of books is great. I love the fact that they build on the same location and jump off the Starter Set so you have 12 adventures there all that are designed to be ran after the starter set… or repurposed for whatever part of the Empire you want to use.

How Many Spells Does a Wizard Need?

A wizard is generally an intelligent character with a fair amount of knowledge based skills and an understanding of how magic works in the world. You posted this in General TT Discussion so I’m assuming we’re not just talking D&D. Wizards have weapons. Gandalf has a sword and staff and used...

WFRP4e - Estimating Travel Distances, Time, and Cost

I really need to check out the simple calendar mod. Warhammer adventures are generally very good at providing lots of rumours and clue for you to talk to random encounters on the road about. There are lots of tables for inspiration too. All good stuff.

A few things I really like about WFRP

Another thing I like about WFRP 4e is the support it has received across the editions. Independent games don’t always get that much, you’re lucky if you get a core book, plahers Book, screen and adventure. But while the schedule has slowed for 4e somewhat, it is still pretty darn punchy. Just...

How Many Spells Does a Wizard Need?

Gandalf does plenty as I recall. Slays a Balrog, incites multiple expeditions from the shire. Helps slay a cave troll in Moria, kill multiple goblins, orcs. Fights against Nazgûl, advises Theoden after curing him. Rincewind doesn’t cast spells and yet is anything but boring and he does a lot of...

How Many Spells Does a Wizard Need?

None. Need is a high bar to set. I’m currently playing a wIzard currently who hasn’t learned to cast spells yet.

A few things I really like about WFRP

Hey, I thought I would share these two maps I adjusted. The top one meant flipping the map and then redoing the text so that the major land mass was to the west. I then added the shackles achepelago onto a map of the known world. I thought they came out quite well. Skull and shackles is a...
