D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

Like Pecos Bill wrangling a tornado.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

It was interesting and flavorful when they were grappled and about to die while the other characters could do nothing!

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

Just found the video. It's interesting he claimed it was intentional that "See Invisibility" doesn't negate the advantage/disadvantage of invisibility. Not to hijack my own thread... but it seems this reduces much of the effectiveness of "See Invisibility". However, it does allow characters to...

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

HA! Right? I'm absolutely sure all of these issues will be resolved in the 2024 core books!

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

As a DM, I tend to not infer additional game mechanics to spells or other "powers" unless they are explicit. For me, if Wind Walk was supposed to provide any additional mechanical benefits beyond what's in the spell description, it would say so.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

LOL! Mr. Small is a cloud!

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

Indeed. It makes the RAW wind walk spell much more powerful.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

This is the first time something like this has come up in our campaign. I just ruled that "Escape a Grapple" is an action they can take in wind walk form.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

The enemy was a Breath Drinker. And, for your scenario using gaseous form to adjudicate, I'd give them a STR save with advantage as the gaseous form spell stipulates.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

Also... I tell my players that they look like Mr. Small in wind walk form. : )

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

How is it possible to grab a person in cloud form? Probably the same way it's possible to reverse gravity or bring somebody back from the dead. Magic defies logic and what's possible.

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

IMO, If wind walk was supposed to make you immune to grapple, the spell would say so. https://www.sageadvice.eu/does-the-spell-wind-walk-give-you-the-benefits-of-gaseous-form/

D&D 5E Wind Walk and Grappled

Had a interesting scenario the other night during 19th-level game play. The characters were in wind walk form scouring an area when enemies teleported next to them to attack. One enemy managed to grapple one of the characters with an attack. It took us a second to realize that the PC was...

D&D 5E Scroll of Protection and Ranged Weapons

Let's say a PC uses a Scroll of Protection from Undead. This creates a "5-foot-radius, 10-foot-high cylinder" that acts as a " barrier [that] prevents undead from entering or affecting anything within the cylinder" of protection. A skeleton down the hall shoots an arrow at the PC. Does the...

D&D 5E Does an Intellect Devourer "Possess" Its Victim?

Rules for a magical sword that one of my players uses states: "In addition, those within the radius can’t be charmed, frightened or possessed by aberrations, fiends, demons and undead." (The sword emits light in an 80 foot radius that offers certain protections, in case you were wondering why...

D&D General WotC Founder Peter Adkison On Hasbro's Layoffs

Layoffs should be seen as the result of poor management. But in today's economy, layoffs are actually considered good management because they increase shareholder wealth.

    D&D 5E Etherealness "Upcast" Question

I'm trying to uncover RAI and enjoy friendly D&D rules debates. I want the spell to work the way it's intended to work. But I've seen no logical argument why "you" should refer exclusively to the caster in only one sentence of the spell description while simultaneously assuming that in every...

    D&D 5E Etherealness "Upcast" Question

But why would one assume "you" refers exclusively to the caster in only one sentence of the spell description while also referring to all other targets in all the other sentences in the spell description? There's nothing in the text that differentiates between who the "you" is referring to...

    D&D 5E Etherealness "Upcast" Question

Yes. But it doesn't help me, because if the word's referent remains the same throughout, then all other other uses of "you" does not apply to targets other than the caster. We can assume RAI is that only the caster can dismiss the spell, but the text certainly doesn't make that intention...
