As a DM, I tend to not infer additional game mechanics to spells or other "powers" unless they are explicit. For me, if Wind Walk was supposed to provide any additional mechanical benefits beyond what's in the spell description, it would say so.

Indeed. It makes the RAW wind walk spell much more powerful.

This is the first time something like this has come up in our campaign. I just ruled that "Escape a Grapple" is an action they can take in wind walk form.

The enemy was a Breath Drinker. And, for your scenario using gaseous form to adjudicate, I'd give them a STR save with advantage as the gaseous form spell stipulates.

Also... I tell my players that they look like Mr. Small in wind walk form. : )

How is it possible to grab a person in cloud form? Probably the same way it's possible to reverse gravity or bring somebody back from the dead. Magic defies logic and what's possible.

Yes. But it doesn't help me, because if the word's referent remains the same throughout, then all other other uses of "you" does not apply to targets other than the caster. We can assume RAI is that only the caster can dismiss the spell, but the text certainly doesn't make that intention...
