    D&D General Millennial D&D (+)

5e is what a Gen Xer thinks a Millennial edition that a Boomer would play. Millennial D&D would be something like the love child of Daggerheart and MCDM painted with vieo game and 90s-00s cartoon and anime bits

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

Well the Duelist/Swashbuckler has always been in that weird spot between Fighter and Rogue. Finesse and Light weapons don't scale naturally enough to "work" in the way D&D does Warrior combat and it overshadows the weapon the rogue way. But there is always a desire to make fencers, light...

    D&D General What are humans?

It's just Halflings Halflings mentally think adventuring or leaving home for long periods is weird. You have to force a normal Halfling to do it.

    D&D General What are humans?

PC Halflings don't have this. All PC Halflings are weird or affected Halflings.

    D&D General What are humans?

D&D species weren't allowed to have mechanical psychological weaknesses. Gnomes still have super brains. Humans get a feat.

    D&D General What are humans?

In D&D, Halfling homebodiness is an ingrained psychological feature. It's not culture.

    D&D General What are humans?

    D&D General What are humans?

Compared to other races, humans are xenophiles. New peoples are new opportunities. New opportunities are new ways to reach your ambitions or exploit a new resource or avenue to your ambitions. "Human Xenophobia" in fiction is usually predicated by a loss. But Tribalism. Humans set up tribes...

    D&D General What are humans?

It cancels out. Humans are vulnerable to social pressure and pattern recognition. BUT The influence has to make sense AND not contradict long held beliefs. Like one person said, humans are STUBBORN.

    D&D General What are humans?

No. The weird Halflings act like humans. The average Halfling is a homebody who does the same exact things as their neighbors.

    D&D General What are humans?

Yes. More that we adapt and overspecialize into smaller roles and niches via social pressure than not sharing and caring. Dwarves don't travel and don't actively attempt to progress. Halflings literally have low ambition. Elves do travel and physically change but reform elfdomin their...

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

Here me out. A Knight class. It's a medium or heavy armor warrior class that specializes in a Fighting style and skills of a chosen or crafted martial culture. Subclasses are individual weapon specializations in a culture's favored weapon or devotions to a culture's favored skill. The fighter...

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

True But that's only because the designers force fighter to cover so many archetypes and tropes that the skeleton can't handle the weight. However if Psions 1-3 powers from a list of 18 (3 from each school) , you'd please probably 80-90% of the people who don't want "psionic wizard".

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

I don't see how this make any sense when we've had Martial classes who pretty much just do one thing over and over. How is the "I Attack" Fighter fine, easy to design, and desired but the "I Mind Push" or "I Mind Burn" Psion awful, hard to design, and repulsive?

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

Really Psychics in media typically have only 1-3 powers and have fine control or versatility in use of those powers. An archetype D&D has always missed is the character with only 1 or 2 powers and does a lot with just those. D&D magic is is more a "Collect an effect" game which fails at the...

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

I don't think a satisfactory Psionics system for the psion, psiwarrior/knight, and soul knife requires a lot of pages. About the same amount as Infusions currently. Really only 12-25 powers are needed to cover most of the basic stuff.
  19. Minigiant

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

No. Only the Ranger and Druid have more than 1/3 of their power budget in their subclass.

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

Sorcerers having fine control is a 5e thing. In 3e and 4e, their tropes were POWUH! and Magical Reserves.
