D&D 5E Advanced D&D or "what to minimally fix in 5E?"

Sure. I'm just objecting to the absolute tone of his posts. If he feels that those things aren't 5e for him, that's fine. To say that they just aren't 5e isn't correct.

D&D 5E Advanced D&D or "what to minimally fix in 5E?"

The game doesn't stay 5e when WotC adds something new, but change away from 5e and become a new game when someone else adds the same thing. If the game is overwhelmingly 5e, but adds some new stuff, like A5e does, it's still 5e. It's not a new game.

Different Types of Attorneys Will Be Bad in Completely Different Ways

No wonder so many play D&D. They can't help themselves!

D&D 5E Advanced D&D or "what to minimally fix in 5E?"

It seems like drastic game altering thing you like = 5e with options, and drastic game altering things you don't like = new game. That's not how it works.

    D&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

If nothing else, climb walls becomes a lot more reliable as a spider!

    D&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

I don't believe in sweet spots. At least not as some sort of objective thing. I've always enjoyed D&D from 3rd to high level in every edition, except 4th.

    D&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

When I DM'd the gods usually gave clerics what they asked for, but sometimes not for reason you spelled out. I also occasionally denied spells that were opposed to what the cleric's god represented. As a made up example, if a cleric of the good of forests and plant preservation requested the...

    D&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

Yep! I always made sure that my clerics followed greater gods. Not that it ever mattered. Me: "My cleric finally made 5th level!" DM: "The wraith hits you." Me: "..." Undead really, really sucked in 1e and 2e. I was happy to see the energy drains allow saves in 3e, though I think the DCs...

    D&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

Over the last 40 years I can count on one hand the number of times we needed a mass combat system. The PCs had been put in charge of armies, or were kings going to war, etc. During those times a mass combat system would have been invaluable. The problem is that the other 99.9% of the time we...

D&D General What do you like to do in playing D&D

Oh. I wasn't viewing those things as from PC perspective. The poll asked what I like to do in playing D&D, so I figured it was viewing those things as a player. Tired morning me missed the usually from PC perspective. :p Edit: Then add all of it in except for romance, because I roleplay and...

D&D General What do you like to do in playing D&D

I voted for everything except... 1. Fighting monsters 2. Finding monetary loot 3. Researching spells/powers 4. Monster hunting 5. Crafting items 6. Romance Fighting holds little enjoyment for me. It's fun sometimes and is usually necessary for level advancement, which is also fun and not only...

D&D General What is the Quintissential D&D Mascot Monster?

I'm going to buck the trend(at least on the first page) and say dragons. Two things are quintessential D&D. Dungeons, and dragons. They may not be uniquely D&D, and if we're going uniquely then the beholder takes that one, but they are quintessential D&D.

You mean it's the deli who is tracking me wherever I go and not the government?!

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

That's not going to happen, though. They aren't going to make simple and complex versions of the classes. A Dashing Swordsman subclass is the best to be hoped for. At least until such time as WotC takes some sort of allergy medication and radically changes their position on making new classes.
